BIOSURE◊ HA/PK

BIOSURE◊ HA/PK is a family of interference screws from Smith+Nephew designed to provide reliable fixation of grafts in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. This versatile line of screws includes versions in absorbable and non-absorbable materials tailored to different surgical needs.

Technical features

BIOSURE HA (hydroxyapatite): This absorbable interference screw combines poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) with hydroxyapatite (HA), a calcium phosphate similar to the mineral composition of bone. This combination promotes osteoconductivity and allows the screw to gradually integrate with the bone.

BIOSURE PK (PEEK): A non-absorbable screw made of PEEK-OPTIMA® polymer, manufactured by Invibio®, with an elastic modulus similar to cortical bone. PEEK-OPTIMA material combines strength, stiffness and toughness and is biocompatible. BIOSURE PK screws offer the possibility of revision, similar to absorbable screws, and inherent radiolucent properties, allowing better visualisation during imaging examinations.

Available sizes: Screws are available in 24 sizes, including 6 mm screws for double bundle reconstructions and reverse threads for right knees.
